The Gili Islands are located east of Bali in Indonesia.

Gili Trawangan is the largest of the three and the one with the most infrastructure and movement, while Gili Meno and Gili Air are much more rustic and calm. In our case, we only visited Gili Trawangan, which was quite relaxed since April is low season. To get to Gili Trawangan we hired a complete trip from Sanur that included the combi transfer to Padang Bay and the fast boat (which is very fast).

The three islands are quite small. For reference, we circled Gili Trawangan in a couple of hours. It is highly recommended to go to the west coast of the island where the sunset is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

Diving in the Gili Islands

Going to diving, I did four dives in three days. The places were Manta point, Meno´s reef, Shark point and Bounty Wreck. Visibility was very good at all sites. I was able to see several white tip and nurse sharks, green turtles, tip shark and nurse shark. The diving in Meno´s reef was at night and when we surfaced an unforgettable full moon was waiting for us.
