Scuba Diving in Bayahibe – Dominican Republic

Detail of the Atlantic Princess Wreck

In April 2018 we went diving off the southern coast of the Dominican Republic, on the Bayahibe beach. In this post l share with you why we chose that destination instead of Punta Cana.

I admit that until this trip I knew little about diving in the Dominican Republic and, spoiler alert, I must say that it exceeded my expectations. The choice of Bayahibe over Punta Cana was thanks to comments that the reefs on the south coast were more protected and therefore in better condition. This turned out to be completely correct, the reefs are much better preserved than in other more popular places in the Caribbean and the marine fauna is very varied. I did the dives with Dressel Divers that is inside the Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus. Although we were stopping at the Be Live Collection Canoa, I had no problem arranging with them. Just to mention, every morning I had to walk through the beach the 400 meters that separate the two resorts, which was quite nice.

Here is a video where you can see the quality of the dives. Enjoy it!
