In October of 2011 we made an express trip with Gabriela and Matías to dive in Puerto Madryn.
Trip to Puerto Madryn
Luck wasn´t with us because due to the strong wind we couldn´t go diving for two days in a row. To enjoy the resting time we went to Puerto Piramides, where were able to watch the big whales. Finally on the third day, the boat sailed from Madryn and we did three dives plus a snorkeling session with sea lions, all with the Abramar dive shop.
We dived in the three shipwrecks that are in the area, the Folias, the Miralles and the Albatros. The Folias was a fishing boat that ran aground south of Puerto Madryn in the 70’s about 300 meters from the coast (you can get there swimming from the beach). It is leaned and the movements of the tide cause part of it to be on open-air during part of the day. These movements also make it deteriorate rapidly. The shipwrecks Miralles and Albatros were sunk purposely and are at a depth of approximately 20 meters (depends on the tide). The Miralles is quite larger and worth visiting both. I did not take good pictures, but as always it was a good experience for my underwater photography learning
